Correct system setup is required to enable accurate navigation. Set up the system so that it does not hinder the surgeon and position the patient carefully. Ensure the patient’s head is rigidly fixed in the headholder.
Register the patient in the desired position for surgery, as any movement of the patient’s head after registration decreases navigation accuracy.
- If the patient’s head moves, but the relative position to the reference array stays the same (e.g., the OR table is moved), verify accuracy.
- If the patient’s head moves relative to the reference array (e.g., repositioning the patient’s head in the headholder, moving the reference array), perform registration again.
